Power and Free Conveyors

Overcome Production Challenges with Power and Free Conveyors

When you need a heavy-duty, reliable solution for transferring parts in assembly operations, power and free conveyors deliver, even in the harshest environments. These monorail overhead conveyor systems can stop specific parts without stopping the line, with many options available to meet your unique needs.

We understand material handling automation is a time-consuming process, especially if you’re coordinating with multiple vendors. At RMH Systems, our team of in-house experts delivers turnkey solutions that include engineering, installation, aftermarket service–and beyond.

For more than 80 years, businesses of all sizes across the country have trusted RMH to help them work more efficiently and safely. As an experienced conveyor system integrator, we’re confident we can do the same for you, too.

What Is a Power and Free Conveyor?

Most conveyors are at ground level, and stopping them means the entire production line is held up.

That’s not the case with power and free conveyors, which allow you to stop loads at certain points while keeping the rest of the line moving. While most are installed overhead to maximize floor space, some operations may require inverted power and free conveyors, meaning they’re installed on the floor.

Power and free conveyors have two tracks. One is powered and has a continuously moving chain. The other is a free track with trolleys that move independently while holding items. This allows you to accumulate, store and release products as needed.

Power and free overhead conveyors are most commonly used in the automotive industry, where they can carry loads of just a few pounds to several tons through washing and painting processes. Food processing facilities also rely on them for transporting heavy cuts of meat.
